  •  Janelle feels a newfound sense of family and happiness when spending time with Christine and their children, highlighting the strain in her relationship with Kody during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  •  Robyn made Christine's birthday about herself, feeling hurt and excluded from the celebration, rather than being understanding of Christine's personal boundaries.

Sister Wives season 18 episode 12, “Can’t See The Forrest For The Trees”, celebrated Christine Brown’s birthday with an exciting new development while Janelle Brown and Meri Brown made decisions about their relationships with Kody Brown. Throughout Sister Wives season 18, Christine has made a concerted effort to continue having relationships within the Brown family.

While her marriage to Kody has ended, she’s tried to include Janelle in her life as much as possible, even as Janelle struggles through her own marital issues with Kody. While Christine may not be interested in keeping her relationships with Robyn or Meri intact, she’s hopeful that their family can still function.

While Christine is doing her best to foster a sense of family, the rest of Kody’s wives are still scrambling to get a grip on what’s happening in their family.

As Janelle works to decide where she stands with Kody and their future relationship, Meri has been doing her best to build something of her own, on her own. Despite the others blaming Kody, rather than relishing in the time spent with her husband, Robyn has worked overtime to make the drama of Sister Wives season 18 about her as much as possible.

Sister Wives is a TV series created for TLC that follows Cody Brown and his four wives as they raise their eighteen children and tackle the challenges associated with their massive family dynamic and the stigma that comes with their way of life.

Christine Celebrated Her 50th Birthday & Announced She’s Dating

At a sweet party in Salt Lake City, Utah, Christine celebrated her 50th birthday in the company of some of her favorite people. All of Christine’s local children joined in at the party, along with her mother and Janelle, who were all excited to see one another.

At the party, Christine shared that her wish for her next year of life revolved around romantic relationships, and revealed she’d been on a few dates to test the waters. Nervous but excited, Christine was happy to be moving on.

Janelle Shared That Kody’s “Preference For Robyn” Was Made Clear During Covid

Janelle was emotional about her time with Christine, especially celebrating such a big birthday. Christine explained that Janelle is a part of her family, regardless of what happened between either of them and Kody.

Janelle, who was just grateful to be celebrating, shared that she hadn’t felt this sort of sense of family in a long time. Janelle believes that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Kody had no choice but to make his preference for Robyn over his other wives very clear as he chose to spend all his time with her. She explained that being with Christine and their kids brought back some better feelings.

Robyn Made Christine’s Birthday About Her

Although she wasn’t invited to Christine’s birthday bash, Robyn managed to make the fact that Christine was having a party all about her. Though Christine left Kody in 2021 and has maintained a baseline co-parenting relationship with him, the fact that she’s chosen to live her life separately from Robyn has hurt the latter tremendously.

Robyn explained that she felt incredibly hurt by the fact that Christine hadn’t invited her or her children to the party, especially sad for her kids knowing they weren’t going to be part of the celebration when Janelle’s kids were. Rather than being understanding of Christine’s boundaries, Robyn made herself the victim.

Meri Cautioned Sister Wives Viewers About The Dangers Of Online Encounters

While Meri has always been more on the quiet side about her catfishing scandal, and though she’s mentioned it several times on Sister Wives in the past, it’s always a surprise to hear her reference it.

Meri, who clearly feels ashamed of what happened during the scandal, cautioned Sister Wives season 18 viewers about the dangers of online encounters when introducing a friend she met online. Meri explained that the catfishing scandal definitely hurt her and Kody’s relationship, but that she understands much more about herself and her trust after the issue.

Kody Explained He Feels Rejected By Janelle

While Kody revealed that he hasn’t been doing much by way of chasing after Janelle or trying to rekindle their relationship, he shared that he’s felt rejected when it comes to their marriage. Janelle has been doing her best to restructure her life without Kody in it, but she explained that she doesn’t know if she fully feels ready to leave the marriage yet.

Though Kody has expressed he’d be interested in rekindling their marriage, Janelle shared that she doesn’t believe him when he says that without taking any sort of action. Kody shared that Janelle’s disinterest in him has made him feel thoroughly rejected.

Kody Visited Janelle’s New Apartment And Wondered Why

Though he hasn’t been doing much to try and reassure Janelle he wants to be in her life, Kody stopped by his wife’s new apartment to see her and their daughter, Savanah. Janelle offered Kody a tour of the place and it became clear that Kody had come into a space for Janelle and their daughter, not for him.

Kody shared that he felt odd in the apartment, like it was very visibly somewhere he would never live. He wasn’t completely sure why Janelle had wanted him to see the apartment, but he wasn’t sure why he’d agreed to come visit, either.

Meri Was Happy To Work On A Project Independently Of Kody

In Utah, Meri spoke about her renovations for the carriage house behind her B&B, explaining that she was looking forward to decorating something in a way that would be her own.

Meri shared that she’s aware that she’s controlling when it comes to renovation projects, and Sister Wives offered several examples of Meri’s very specific taste in halting a project. Meri explained that working with Kody and her fellow sister wives on projects has been tough in the past, and she was looking forward to a renovation that was entirely her own.

Janelle And Kody Discussed The Future Of Coyote Pass

At Janelle’s new apartment, she and Kody discussed the future of Coyote Pass while taking a tour of the large space. Kody noticed that the apartment was actually larger in square footage than the space Janelle designed for herself on Coyote Pass.

While Kody was laughing about the property, Janelle made it clear that even if it was going to be uncomfortable, she still plans to build on the land she’s invested in. Janelle was adamant she’d be building on her land, despite the separation from Kody. She shared that if it’s necessary, she’ll build a fence large enough to block Kody’s house from her view.

While Kody still seemed to be hopeful about reconciliation with Janelle, he shared that he wasn’t happy with the fact that his estranged wife wasn’t putting in any work. Kody explained that Janelle hasn’t felt the need to nurture her relationships with Meri or Robyn, which has made it clear to him that she isn’t interested in reconciling.

Janelle explained that if she isn’t on good terms with Kody and neither of her other sister wives have reached out, she doesn’t feel compelled to try and have relationships with either of them. For Janelle, if she repairs her relationship with Kody, she may have a reason to reach out.

Janelle, Christine, & Meri Reflected On Kody & Meri’s Marriage

After seemingly concluding that she wasn’t going to try anymore in her relationship with Kody, Meri reflected on her marriage. She explained that they’d been very young when the first got married, but that she remembered them being very in love, too.

Christine explained she first met Meri and Kody as a married couple when she was just 18, and she’d been floored at how in love they were. Janelle shared the sentiment, explaining that Kody and Meri had the kind of love early on that seemed unstoppable. The Sister Wives stars reflected on just how much has changed in their years together.
