A brand new Young Sheldon season 7 image shows Annie Potts bidding Meemaw's illegal gambling den farewell. Less than a week before the Coopers return to the small screen, the cast and crew of the show are busy working to get as many episodes in for its super-sized finale in May.

Aside from official marketing materials from CBS, content from the actors on set is also offering updates on what to expect from Young Sheldon's final year.

How Meemaw's Illegal Gambling Den Impacted Young Sheldon

Meemaw has always liked gambling. Early on, she would even ask for Sheldon's help to figure out her chances of winning. So, when the idea to open up an illegal gambling den came up, it made sense that she went for it.

Initially, it was hidden by the laundromat in front, but as the business grew, she saved more than enough money to also buy the video store beside her ventures in an effort to further hide her make-shift casino.

Financially, Meemaw's business has been a big help, especially when the Coopers went through a rough patch with both George and Mary losing their jobs in the Young Sheldon season 5 finale. More than that, however, the venture allowed for some great storylines, starting with Georgie and Mandy's romance.

The pair met while Mandy was doing her laundry and the new-dropout Georgie was helping his grandmother run the business. Working together on growing the establishment also highlighted just how fun Meemaw and Georgie are together.

Meemaw and Georgie's team-up was very rare before they started working together on growing the illegal gambling den. Following The Big Bang Theory canon, Connie was often paired up with Sheldon, which was fun, but eventually grew repetitive and stale.

With Meemaw's street smarts and Georgie's penchant for entrepreneurship, the pair are able to grow their business. Now that Georgie is a father, the venture helps him pay for Baby Cece's needs, while Meemaw no longer needs to worry about her day-to-day expenses.

Will Meemaw Return In Georgie And Mandy’s Young Sheldon Spinoff?

Young Sheldon may be ending with a shortened season 7, but the story of the Coopers will continue beyond Sheldon's arc with a new spinoff. Georgie and Mandy will front the next series, which will technically be a continuation of The Big Bang Theory spinoff, just with some changes.

For context, no extended cast list has been announced, but there are expectations that some familiar characters will return to join Baby Cece's parents. Whether Meemaw is included in that remains uncertain.

There are clues that Meemaw will remain involved in Georgie and Mandy's Young Sheldon spinoff. For starters, she has been instrumental in making sure that the couple, particularly Mandy, can navigate this scary time as new parents. She has been so helpful to the couple that they decided to name their daughter after her.

Secondly, unless someone moves away from Medford, then it will be difficult to continue Georgie and Mandy's story without any appearance from Meemaw or any other remaining members of the Coopers clan.

Note

Georgie and Mandy's Young Sheldon spinoff is different from the in-development The Big Bang Theory spinoff being spearheaded by Chuck Lorre.

Before her potential transition, Connie has a couple of lingering plots that The Big Bang Theory prequel needs to tackle to properly close her arc. The fate of her illegal den is one of them, in light of Pastor Jeff's discovery that it exists. Despite promising that he will let it continue, he could change his mind anytime.

Before its premiere, Young Sheldon season 7 may have already spoiled the resolution to Meemaw's cliffhanger from season 6, which saw her come home to find her house destroyed by a tornado. Finally, there's also interest in seeing who she ends up with.
