A behind-the-scenes photo from Cobra Kai season 6 confirms the series is finally rectifying a betrayal against Johnny from five years ago. Cobra Kai co-showrunner Jon Huritz released a photo from the set that provides a small but interesting peak into what the show's final chapter has to offer. The photo shows off a massive cast of Cobra Kai characters, all assembled for an unknown purpose.
Whether it be to stop another scheme from Terry Silver, defeat Kreese, or simply get ready for the upcoming Sekai Taikai tournament, characters across both generations in Cobra Kai are shown banding together at the Miyagi-do dojo.
From the looks of things, all of these characters, which notably include Tory and Chozen, will be united by a singular goal. The adults impressively gathered a similarly large group in Cobra Kai season 5 in an effort to oppose Terry Silver, but season 6 is pulling in a few people new to the fight. In doing so, Cobra Kai is setting up a resolution to a big loose end with Johnny's character.
Cobra Kai Season 6 Is Giving Johnny His Dojo Back (Sort Of)
It would seem that Tory isn't the only new addition to the dojo spotted in the photo; also in attendance are many of the kids who trained under Terry Silver at Cobra Kai. Unlike Robby, Miguel, and Hawk, these characters - mostly nameless figures in the show - have only been in one dojo.
They were there when Johnny was in charge, and stuck around when Kreese took over. Many, like Tory, were complicit in the betrayal, in that they were present when Kreese announced to Johnny that he had taken Cobra Kai back. They essentially deserted Johnny. He memorably tried to win them back in season 3, but to no avail.
Cobra Kai season 2's ending stripped Johnny's dojo away from him, forcing him to rebuild it with but a fraction of what he had, which included Miguel, Bert, Mitch, and a few others. Tory and the students, despite being kids he had trained, stayed in Cobra Kai.
Finally, it looks like this injustice is being undone, as the season 6 photo provides confirmation that these kids will be back under Johnny's mentorship. The Cobra Kai brand may still lost to him, but ultimately, it's just a name; what will likely be important to Johnny is that he'll be getting almost his entire roster of students from the first two seasons back.
Getting His Students Back Can Help Give Johnny The Perfect Ending
Restoring Johnny's dojo may be one of the steps Cobra Kai is taking to end Johnny's story. As Johnny expressed to them at the high school in season 3, he felt that he had failed them and wanted another chance to do right by them.
Aside from the scant few that joined Eagle Fang Karate, most ignored his offer. Since it looks like they'll be changing their minds now that Terry Silver has been defeated, Johnny looks set to get an opportunity to continue what he was trying to do in season 2, which was to be a positive influence in their lives. This could fit nicely into the ending Cobra Kai gives to Johnny's story.
