"What's in Store for Outlander Fans? Season 7, Part 2 Promises Heart-Pounding Emotional Showdowns!"

Some of Outlander's "most poignant" moments are headed our way! executive producer Matthew B. Roberts says that new episodes will leave viewers "emotionally wrecked."

We are halfway through the seventh and penultimate season of Outlander, and according to the show's executive producer, we're just getting started. If you recall, a lot was happening during the season 7 midseason finale, and we mean a lot.

Brianna (Sophie Skelton) watched Roger (Richard Rankin) go through the stones in an attempt to locate and bringing back their son Jemmy, whom a fellow time traveler had kidnapped. As Roger is headed back to the 19th century, there is a strong possibility that he may run into Claire (Caitriona Balfe), Jamie (Sam Heughan), and Ian (John Bell), who were last seen arriving in Scotland.

And if we thought that was a lot, there is plenty more where that came from!

While chatting on the official Outlander podcast, executive producer Matthew B. Roberts teased what to expect in the back half of season 7.

“It’s like a rollercoaster, some episodes are going to have you high as a kite and we’re going to bring you down and you’re going to be as low as possible," said Roberts. “And when I say low, I mean emotionally wrecked as we try to do. There’s battles on the horizon, both in war, guns, cannons, but also emotional battles. And I will say some of the most poignant, emotional battles are coming up in the back half that I can’t wait for you guys to see.”

If I had to guess, a lot of the emotion is going to involve Roger's travels back to the 19th century to find Jemmy. In case you forgot, Jemmy was abducted by a fellow named Rob Cameron (Chris Fulton) who became privy to some valuable information. There is a lot of interesting history with the Cameron family, especially in the books, so I am looking forward to seeing how that unravels onscreen.

In the books, shortly after reaching Scotland, Claire is beckoned back to the U.S. to perform a life-saving surgery on Fergus and Marsali's son. Jamie hangs back in Scotland, but soon decides to go back to the States alongside his sister. But they miss their original ship and have to board another. However, Claire has no idea that they did this, and learns that the ship she thinks they're on has sank. Ahh, the drama!

Interestingly enough, however, Fergus and Marsali are not in the second half of season 7, so there may be another reason that Claire goes back to the United States sans Jamie.

And if she does, then we will witness yet another heart-breaking separation between the two and Claire potentially believing that Jamie has died on a sunken ship. This show just has no chill, does it?
