"Lights Dim, Spotlight On: Leonardo DiCaprio's Next Lead Role – Here's the Exclusive Update!"

Leonardo DiCaprio has landed his next lead movie role in an untitled film, set to be directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.

According to Deadline, the film, which is being produced by Warner Bros, will also star Sean Penn and Regina Hall as part of a "big ensemble cast", and will begin production in California this year.Director Anderson also reportedly wrote the script, and will co-produce the film along with Sara Murphy (Licorice Pizza) and Adam Somner (The Revenant).

Little further is known about the film – including a title – but Deadline reports that "it is a contemporary setting and it is the most commercial one Paul Thomas Anderson has attempted, with commensurate budget."

DiCaprio's most recent film role has been in epic Western crime drama Killers of the Flower Moon, as Ernest Burkhart.

The Martin Scorsese flick, which is now available to watch on Apple TV+, is based on David Grann's 2017 non-fiction book, and recounts how a wealthy Native-American community was the victim of a murderous scheme in 1920s Oklahoma.

Digital Spy awarded the film four stars in our review, writing, "Scorsese told their story the only way he could, by looking from a distance, but their viewpoint is still deeply felt, their voices heard."

Sean Penn also appeared in Licorice Pizza, meaning that this will mark another collaboration with Murphy. For Regina Hall, this marks her first film since 2022 comedy Me Time – though a sequel to her 2017 comedy Girls Trip received a promising update nearly a year ago.

The sequel to the film, which also starred Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah and Tiffany Haddish, was confirmed by co-writer Tracy Oliver. However, little information on the follow-up has been revealed since.
