For the past 13 years it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that not only celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City, but also displayed the importance of family.

Working alongside these incredible actors, writers, producers, directors and crew has been a dream come true and I’m grateful to have been a part of this extraordinary group for over 275 episodes. Thank you to CBS Studios and CBS Network for their steadfast support and we offer heartfelt gratitude to the fans who gathered with us for dinner every Friday night.

CBS will find an awful lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to it. The show’s more popular than ever, and I think [numbers] will increase with the interest this year. We’re certainly not out of ideas.

Why Is Blue Bloods Ending?

Blue Bloods began in 2010, and has since aired for 13 seasons. Blue Bloods will begin the run of season 14 on February 16, 2024, and will continue the two-part season throughout 2024. Late last year, it was announced that Blue Bloods was cancelled, making the upcoming year its final season.

The cancellation of Blue Bloods came after a series of rocky patterns in the production leading up to season 14. CBS reportedly asked for major budget cuts, which resulted in actors taking pay hits to keep dozens of crew members employed. As Deadline reported, the renewal of Blue Bloods season 14 was made under the assumption that season 14 may very well be its final season. Thus, the Blue Bloods team took to the writers' room with finality in mind.

All 13 Seasons Of Blue Bloods, Ranked Worst To Best

Blue Bloods has seen plenty of police drama, heartache, and family issues over its 13 seasons, but some seasons are ranked better than others.

Hopefully, the rocky production of Blue Bloods season 14 foreshadowed its cancellation enough for the final episodes to feel truly final. If Selleck is accurate in his statement, the Blue Bloods writing team is “not out of ideas.” On the one hand, that could make the show feel like it lacks closure in the finale, if there are still numerous other plotlines to explore with the characters. Looking from an optimistic lens, this will mean that Blue Bloods still has rich themes to explore as it soon enters season 14.
