"Amanda Seyfried Shines in Peacock's 'Long Bright River' Limited Series: All You Need to Know"

My beat is network and cable television, digital and syndication.

Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout) will headline and serve as one of the executive producers for the upcoming limited Peacock series Long Bright River, from Liz Moore and Nikki Toscano (The Offer, 24: Legacy).

The suspense thriller comes from Sony Pictures Television and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and is based on Liz Moore’s New York Times bestselling novel of the same name.

The logline: Long Bright River tells the story of Mickey (Amanda Seyfried), a police officer who patrols a Philadelphia neighborhood hard-hit by the opioid crisis. When a series of murders begins in the neighborhood, Mickey realizes that her personal history might be related to the case.

“We are thrilled that Amanda Seyfried will lead this series about how those initially perceived as victims can band together to regain their power,” said Liz Moore and Nikki Toscano in a joint press release.

“Moore’s family history and her work with harm-reduction and community-service organizations in Philadelphia informed the series, which aims to portray with compassion the lives of those struggling with addiction and the family members who love them.”

Toscano (The Offer, Hunters) and Moore (Long Bright River) will write and executive produce, with Toscano serving as showrunner. Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty and Amanda Lewis will executive produce for Original Film and Amy Pascal will executive produce for Pascal Pictures.

Seyfried, who won an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a Critics Choice Award, among other accolades, for her performance in Hulu’s The Dropout, also recently starred in Apple TV+ 10-episode limited series The Crowded Room. In 2021, she received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for the drama Mank.
