"Karate Fans Rejoice: Cobra Kai Season 6 Teases Thrilling Developments"

Cobra Kai bosses Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg have shared an exciting update on the show's anticipated final season.

Netflix announced the show's conclusion in January 2023. While production on season 6 was expected to start in May this year, it was put on hold due to the writers' and actors' strike in Hollywood.

Speaking to Deadline, the show's creators have now confirmed that production on the "boldest season" will begin in the new year – following the resolution of the WGA strike in September and the SAG-AFTRA strike in November.

"We are in the writers' room working feverishly and we have been since the WGA strike ended. We are thrilled that the SAG-AFTRA strike has also ended," said Heald.

"We are going back into production after the new year on the biggest, boldest season we've done yet."

On whether fans will be able to return to the Miyagi-verse in 2024, Schlossberg said: "With the only caveat being that nothing else happens in the industry. That's the hope to get this out ASAP for the fans who have been waiting."

Lead actors William Zabka and Ralph Macchio are expected to return for season 6, as well as Courtney Henggeler, Vanessa Rubio, Xolo Maridueña, Tanner Buchanan, Peyton List, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand and Gianni DeCenzo.

Hilary Swank, who notably played Julie Pierce in The Next Karate Kid, could potentially make an appearance in the final instalment.

"We are fans of Hilary Swank," said Hurwitz on the cameo rumours, before Schlossberg added: "Anyone from the Miyagi-verse could potentially be in the final season."

In other news, Dexter star CS Lee has recently been cast as a classic Karate Kid character for Cobra Kai's final season. The actor will play Master Kim Sun-Young, who was previously played by Don Lee (via Deadline).
