"Bridgerton Season 3 Twist: Benedict's Change and the Show's Biggest Revelation Unveiled"

Because Bridgerton season 3 will be following the fourth book, and not focusing on Benedict, one of the biggest reveals may be pushed back.

Penelope looks up at Colin in Bridgerton.

SUMMARY

  •  Bridgerton season 3 will deviate from the books by skipping over Benedict's story and focusing on Colin and Penelope instead.
  •  The reveal of Lady Whistledown's identity, crucial to Benedict's love story, may be postponed or handled differently in the show.
  •  The show could either defer Penelope's reveal or have Colin discover Lady Whistledown's identity but not reveal it until a later season to maintain tension in the storyline.

The change to the timeline in Bridgerton season 3 may delay the show's biggest reveal about Benedict. Adapted from Julia Quinn's novels, the Bridgerton television series chronicles the romantic journeys of the Bridgerton siblings.

The initial two seasons adhered to the timeline of the books, depicting the love stories of Daphne Bridgerton and Anthony Bridgerton. However, Bridgerton season 3 will be skipping over Benedict Bridgerton's story, even though the third book is about him.

Bridgerton season 3 will instead jump forward in the narrative, shifting its focus to Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington. Bridgerton season 3 will be released in two parts, with the first part premiering on May 16, 2024, and the second on June 13, 2024.

However, if the big reveal in the fourth book, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, happens, it could take away from Benedict's love story. There are a few options that the show could take to maintain the love story in book 3 for the Bridgerton television series.

Bridgerton Season 3's Benedict Change May Drag Out The Lady Whistledown Reveal

Because Lady Whistledown is important to the love story of Benedict and her identity is not revealed until the fourth book, the show may drag out her reveal. The narrative of the fourth book in the Bridgerton series, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, revolves around the romance between Colin and Penelope.

At the start of the book, Penelope is now 28 and deemed a spinster, while Colin has just returned from spending most of his time traveling the world and dodging marriage. Upon his return, the two reconnect and find that they have a newfound chemistry between them.

Throughout the novel, everyone in town is speculating over who Lady Whistledown is, especially once she reveals that she will be retiring. Colin suspects Eloise, but his pursuit of the truth leads him to discover that it is, in fact, Penelope.

Cressida threatens to expose Lady Whistledown's identity, but Colin takes the initiative with Penelope's approval, revealing the identity of Lady Whistledown before Cressida can.

With Bridgerton season 3 changing the order of the love stories, it poses a potential challenge for Benedict's romance. In Benedict's tale, An Offer from a Gentleman, Lady Whistledown plays a crucial role.

When Benedict struggles to find his love interest, Sophie, Lady Whistledown becomes instrumental in helping him find her. Due to this, the Lady Whistledown reveal will have to happen in another season.

The first two seasons of Bridgerton and the spinoff Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story are available to stream exclusively on Netflix.

How Bridgerton Can Work Its Big Reveal Around Its Story Changes

Given Lady Whistledown's pivotal role in Benedict and Sophie's love story in Bridgerton, the series is likely to postpone Penelope's reveal. One way the series could work around the timeline change could involve Colin not discovering that Penelope is Lady Whistledown in Bridgerton season 3.

The show could then defer the reveal to a later point when Lady Whistledown is no longer crucial to advancing the show's romantic narratives. Another option would be to have Colin uncover Lady Whistledown's identity in Bridgerton season 3 but choose not to reveal it until another season.

This dynamic would add tension to the storyline, as Colin would be privy to Lady Whistledown's secret and might even assist Penelope with her column. Regardless of how the Bridgerton television show decides to handle the reveal of Lady Whistledown, it is likely to deviate from the novels to accommodate her crucial role in Benedict and Sophie's romance.
