"Week Seven Leaderboard: The Top Performer and the Following Tailing Participant"

As Strictly Come Dancing comes to the mid-way mark of the series, here is a look at this week's leaderboard.

Week seven saw the judges go hard on the contestants, proving things are already getting tougher throughout the competition.

Nine remaining couples danced it out once again, with Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola soaring up the leaderboard as they claimed topped scorers once again.

The Coronation Street star scored an incredible 39 points for her 'finale vibes' American Smooth to Ain't That Kick In The Head.

Meanwhile, trailing at the bottom of the board scoring both 27 out of 40, saw Angela Scanlon and Carlos Guy plus Adam Thomas with Luba Mushtuk.

As Strictly Come Dancing comes to the mid-way mark of the series, here is a look at this week's leaderboard (picured Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola)

Coming in just below Ellie and Vito, Nikita Kuzmin and his dance partner Layton Williams scored an incredible 36 points - the highest scoring Jive of the series to date.

Just behind Layton was Annabel Croft and Johannes Radebe, whose performance moved viewers to tears as she paid a heartbreaking tribute to her late husband Mel Coleman.

The couple wowed the judges and scored a well-deserved 35 points, putting them third on the leaderboard.

The former tennis player, 57, cried as she remembered her beloved partner before dancing her Couple's Choice lyrical routine with professional dancer Johannes Radebe, 36.

Annabel's late husband and father to their three children Charlie, Amber and Lilly, died in May, aged 60, a few weeks after he was diagnosed with stage three cancer.

Nigel Harman and Katya Jones danced the Tango to Nothing Breaks Like a Heart by Miley Cyrus and scored 33 points.

Strictly favourites Bobby Brazier and Dianna Buswell came out with 30 out of 40, dancing the Argentine Tango.

And placing in the middle of the leaderboard was Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Lauren Oakley with 29 points and Angela Rippon with Kai Widdrington at 28 points.

Following Ellie's top performance, judge Craig Revel Horwood noted that she had gone from 'strength to strength' in the show before giving out a score of nine, whilst Motsi Mabuse predicted the routine could send them into the final.

Head judge Shirley Ballas called them 'finalist material' and Anton Du Beke labelled their routine 'joyous'.

Speaking to hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly after their performance, Ellie said: 'Honestly, I love that. The vibe, the costume, and the team are amazing. I felt a million dollars!

'I was like 'What am I meant to do here?' But I've got an amazing teacher!'

The Strictly duo looked over the moon as they received their high scores to screams and cheers from the audience.

Another couple is set to go home in the results show on Sunday night as things ramp up in the contest while getting closer to the final each week.
