Originally, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon was conceived as a spinoff series following both Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon and Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier. After McBride reportedly backed out of the spinoff, it became a solo series about Daryl, now fighting his way through the walker-infested ruins of France.

There were rumors that McBride would still appear as Carol in the series, and at New York Comic-Con, it was officially announced that has boarded the cast of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon for Season 2 as a series regular.

Production on The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is currently underway in France amid plans for the spinoff to return to AMC in 2024. With McBride's return now confirmed, the second season has also been dubbed as The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol.

Other cast members who will features in the new season include Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Laika Blanc Francard, Anne Charrier, Romain Levi, and Eriq Ebouaney.

Reedus is also an executive producer on the series, and McBride will also be serving in that role on Season 2. Other exec producers include showrunner David Zabel, Scott M. Gimple, Greg Nicotero, Angela Kang, Brian Bockrath, Daniel Percival, Jason Richman, and Steve Squillante.

The Walking Dead Lives On After the Main Series Ended

With fan favorites further exploring the world of The Walking Dead, the franchise lives on, despite the main series ending last year after eleven seasons. A separate spinoff series following Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan and Lauren Cohan's Maggie, dubbed The Walking Dead: Dead City, has also scored a Season 2 renewal. That series follows the two as they explore Manhattan, putting aside their personal differences to survive.

Another upcoming spinoff, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, follows Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). It was confirmed at NYCC that this spinoff will be arriving in February 2024. The spinoff is also bringing back Pollyanna McIntosh as Jadis, and there will perhaps be other fan favorites who will appear as well.

Meanwhile, the first of the Walking Dead spinoffs is getting ready to end its run. The final episodes of Fear the Walking Dead, which have brought back Kim Dickens as Madison Clark, will premiere on Oct. 22, 2023.
